DACON (Thailand) Launched Corrosion under Support (DACON’s CuS)

Dacon Inspection Services Co. Ltd has launched its new development for the assessment of Corrosion under Support (Dacon CuS), the prototype model was successfully field tested with the Thailand’s national oil company PTTEP for their offshore facilities. The client has acknowledge and appreciated the innovation of DACON’s CuS tool.

The chief scientist at Dacon Research & Development center Dr. Ken said the development of Dacon’s CuS tool was a very good experience and it has proven capability beyond the expectations, acknowledgement from the national oil company of Thailand in itself is an achievement for the Dacon R&D center. The new tool has now been successfully used to both find and measure pipe thickness in hidden areas, such as under support and under riser clamps. An added capability for the CuS tool is that it can make direct measurements through EPDM coating and conventional tar wrapped pipes – without removing this coating. Currently the team is working on development of a user friendly software that will be ready in a short time.

The Dacon Research & Development center is primarily tasked with developments for Intelligent Pipeline Inspection Solutions and is located in Ban Chang, Rayong.
